Data & privacy
Rolyx stores everything in your browser and needs no account at all. That's the complete app, not a free trial.
Local by default
Tasks, notes, habits, projects, roles and settings are all stored on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you explicitly turn sync on. A fresh install with zero network access is a fully working copy of Rolyx.
What signing in changes
Signing in simply adds a synced copy of your data so the same records show up on your other devices. It's magic-link only (an email with a one-time link). Sync never becomes the owner of your data. Local storage stays the source of truth so you always have the most up to date data.
How merging works
Every record carries a timestamp, and conflicts resolve per record. E.g. the newest edit wins. Sync pulls when the app opens or a tab regains focus and pushes a debounced batch after each edit.
Deletion is final
Deleting a record is meant to be final. Delete a task on your phone and it's gone everywhere, not archived. Gone.
A device that hasn't synced in a long time can, in rare cases, still hold a copy of something deleted elsewhere. This is the tradeoff for not keeping deleted records around in the DB forever.
Sessions and what happens when they lapse
If a session lapses, the app keeps working exactly as it does when you're signed out. Rather than let that pass silently, a device that was signed in and no longer is shows a banner until you acknowledge it, so a lapsed session doesn't quietly stop syncing without your noticing.
